Moto Guzzi Le Mans Mk 1 Restoration

This video shows the 14 month "Tear down phase" of the Moto Guzzi Le Mans Mk 1 from 1978. It is an 850cc Air cooled V twin - The bike is a push rod motor with two valves per cylinder. The flywheel and Ring Gear weigh approx 7.5kg. It is shaft drive, The bike has linked Brembo disc brakes, the three calipers are all 'single pot.' I got hold of the bike approx 3 years ago taking the first photo at mid day on the 12th of October 2008. I was 19 and the bike had spent the last 20 years laying untouched in an old shed. collecting dust and going rotten. It was my fathers old bike and he had got it second hand in late 1979 with 1500 miles on the clock. He was looking for a bike to do some long distance touring on, and preferred Guzzis to BMWs due to the better braking in the wet. he thrashed the bike every day of the year for 10 years doing approx 100000 miles on the bike, all over Europe in rain and shine without ever really needing to do much work to it.. However eventually the bike gave up, needing new big end shells and new gear box change spring. As I was just starting engineering at university I needed some good transport and having just passed my test, the guzzi fitted the bill. A bit of a restoration project and a cool bike. HOWEVER This video shows the brake down phase of the restoration, 14 months hard work, the more the bike was taken apart the worse it got, everything that could rust was, everything that could rot had, and everything was seized, pistons, carbs ...
